What are Product-Specific Shipping & Exemptions?

Product-specific shipping and exemptions give you more fine-tuned control on shipping costs. You may include additional shipping costs for products that are more expensive to ship, such as a heavy or oversized item. You may also exclude shipping for products, such as yearbook photo retouching, to avoid charging shipping when that is the only item ordered. You can make these adjustments per product, package and/or collection in each price sheet, giving you flexibility to add to the cart-level shipping fees for certain items or to set shipping exemptions for products that incur no shipping if they are the only type of product purchased.

šŸ“¢ Digital-download only orders still do not incur shipping.

šŸ“ To use this feature, make sure you've installed the Blueprint version Latest Releases. This can be found by navigating to Preferences > Advanced.

Adding Product-Specific Shipping & Exemptions

Inside a price sheet, select a print product, non-print product, package, or collection to edit. Under Shipping, you can select from the following options:

  • Default - Applying Shipping Rate in Shopping Cart Settings

  • No Cost - This item is except from Shipping Rate in Shopping Cart Settings

  • Additional Cost - Additional cost added to Shipping Rate in Shopping Cart Settings

    • When selected, the Additional Shipping Cost is visible so you can set the amount of additional shipping to apply.

šŸ“¢ For packages, you can only select the shipping at the package level, not for the products within the package.

So how is shipping calculated?

Shipping is still calculated in the cart during checkout, and customers will only see their total shipping cost. For example, if they purchase an item with additional shipping cost, they will see that already added to the cart default shipping.

Letā€™s walk through some examples.

Example #1

The shopping cart templateā€™s shipping is $6, and the studio configured additional cost items on their price sheet.

Cart

  • 8x10 Print (default shipping of $6)

  • Coffee Mug (using additional cost shipping of $10)

  • Metal Print (using additional cost shipping of $15)

Shipping Total: $31

Shipping Explanation: Since the customer purchased an 8x10, which uses the cartā€™s default shipping of $6 and two items that incur additional costs of $10 and $15, the shipping total is $6 + $10 + $15 = $31.

Example #2

The shopping cart templateā€™s shipping is $6, and the studio configured no cost items on their price sheet.

Cart

  • 8x10 Print (default shipping of $6)

  • Yearbook Image Retouching (using no cost shipping)

Shipping Total: $6

Shipping Explanation: Since the customer purchased an 8x10, which uses the cartā€™s default shipping of $6 and yearbook retouching, which incurs no shipping, the total is $6.

Example #3

The shopping cart templateā€™s shipping is $6, and the studio configured no cost items on their price sheet.

Cart

  • Yearbook Image Retouching (using no cost shipping)

Shipping Total: $0

Shipping Explanation: Since the customer only purchased a no cost shipping item, the shipping total is $0.

Example #4

The shopping cart templateā€™s shipping is $6, and the studio configured no cost items on their price sheet.

Cart

  • Yearbook Image Retouching (using no cost shipping)

  • 5x7 Print previously mailed to the customer in a Spec Package (using no cost shipping)

Shipping Total: $0

Shipping Explanation: Since the customer only purchased no cost shipping items, the shipping total is $0.

Example #5

The shopping cart templateā€™s shipping is $6, the studio configured additional cost items on their price sheet, and the customer has a discount code for 100% free shipping.

Cart

  • 8x10 (default shipping of $6)

  • Coffee Mug (using additional cost shipping of $10)

Shipping Total: $0

Shipping Explanation: Since the customer has a discount code for 100% free shipping, the shipping total is $0.
